So says Mark Kozelek, echoing the thoughts of everyone here who’s too old for Toms and ironic t-shirts. (Actually, the Chicago hipster crowd switched from Toms to boat shoes two years ago. It was a startlingly abrupt change. I can only assume someone put a memo out on Snapchat.) Another Kozelek quotation from this evening: “There are a lot of white people here.” Yup.

The girl can really sing. Wow. More invigorating than I suspected. And there’s a small group of fans down front singing along with every word. That’s what I like to see.

This woman should get more coverage on Saving Country Music. I mean, I don’t know where she’s from or anything, but she’s every bit as country as Kacey Musgraves, just a bit further to the left
