It’s been a whirlwind day getting into Chicago, getting my gear together, and getting ready for my favorite fest of the year. But Intelligentsia has me twitching, so I’m ready to rock. Here are five acts I’m really excited about today.
Willis Earl Beal
He’s a total mystery to me. I can’t wait to find out what he’s all about.
A$AP Rocky
Super strong buzz about him. New hip-hop acts always take the stage with something to prove at Pitchfork.
Tim Hecker (pictured)
Talk softly and carry a big… something. I love his records; I wonder how they’ll translate to the bucolic park setting. He has a reputation for rising to the occasion.
Japandroids
One of the best live acts I’ve seen recently. Their new songs were designed specifically to enhance their live shows. I expect more crowd-singing than at any other time during the weekend.
Dirty Projectors
They just put out their fantastic new record. They’ve gotta be feeling good about life. It’s time to do something really special. I bet this will be the most memorable set of the festival.
Will my predictions come true? Who’s not on this list that’s really going to surprise me? Will Feist collaborate with Clams Casino?
