tUnE-yArDs
I can’t wait to see this noise recreated live. I’m hoping she turns the chaos way up.
Battles
Sometimes they’re a kick-ass prog-rock outfit, and I’m up for that, but I’m mostly looking forward to the herky-jerky, post-Phish dancing their set should inspire.
Guided By Voices
No explanation needed right? We just have to hope that Mr. Pollard rises to the occasion. Any bets on the set list?
Das Racist
“All the bloggers be like, ‘This I gotta see.’” (from “Shut Up, Dude”) Well, yeah. If they’re half as entertaining as their mixtapes are bizarre, we’re all in for a treat.
Neko Case
When I saw the New Pornographers earlier this year, Neko outshone the rest of the band put together—without breaking a sweat.
James Blake
Blake is one of several artists who will have a real challenge bringing their quiet, well-considered sounds off well in the park, ever more s0 since it’ll be daylight still. But they’re some of my favorite artists at the fest, so I’m trying stay optimistic while managing my expectations.
Animal Collective
These guys are practically super-heroes in the Pitchfork universe, so it’s bound to be a great trip, whether you’re partaking or not. My understanding is that their light-show is positively Pink Floyd-ian at this point.
