The Hush Sound at Dirty Dog Bar
I type this back in Ohio and 35 degree highs. Saturday was my last day at SXSW. The day kind of became, “Do I spend all afternoon in the Smashing Pumpkins line (my favorite band, if you don’t know me) or do I see very many other bands?” I chose the latter, which turned out to be a great decision because I ran into a girl later who said she had chosen the first option and didn’t even get in. The line was three blocks long by the time I walked by at 5pm. Good for the Pumpkins, bad for me. But I saw some other awesome bands otherwise.
Here are my photos:
The Hush Sound
In the Whale also at Dirty Dog
The dude from Voxtrot at Peckerheads for the Baebelmusic Showcase
A Civil Twilight
The Staves at Peckerheads
Olafur Arnalds from Iceland at Peckerheads
Whoa grain! This is Dreamened at The Valveeta Room
Grandma’s Boyfriend at The Valveeta Room. Ran into the one and only Ben Hamilton at this show too!
Cello Furry at St David’s Bethell Hall. This venue is actually on the second floor of a real running church
The Black Lips at Viceland. Apparently 50 Cent was going to appear later. We didn’t stick around.
TOY playing the British Embassy at Latitude 30
Columbus’ own Two Car Garage at the Karma Lounge
Hey Marseilles at the Bungalow. My last SXSW 2013 show. This band has a viola player. They are immediately my favorite.
Conclusion to come.
